Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hackathon

 Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest, most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham, as well as specialist services for patients from further afield including cancer, renal and cardiovascular. We have more than two million patient contacts a year and over 15,000 staff. The Trust includes St Thomas’ Hospital, Guy’s Hospital, Evelina London Children’s Hospital and both adult and children’s community services.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ is organising a ‘Hackathon’ and would like to invite you to help us solve some of the challenges we face.

We are looking for people from a variety of disciplines to help us solve some critical pain points around:

  • Using patients’ data to improve care
  • Capturing images onto patients’ secure care records and more.

Our team of clinicians and technology colleagues will be on hand to mentor and advise the hacking teams.

The day will include

  • Pre event: problem statement shared with participants

  • 9am-9:30am - registration

  • 9:30am-10:30am - clinicians subject matter experts explain the problems + Q&A.

  • 10:30am-11am - groups form to address the problems

  • 11am-1pm - Hack

  • 1pm-2pm - lunch and ideas

  • 2pm-5pm  - Hack, develop prototype, prep for demo

  • 5pm-6pm  -15 min demos and ideas pitches 

  • 6m-7pm - best ideas winners selected & prizes granted

  • 7pm - Dinner 

Who should attend?

We are looking for a range of people with a variety of skills to help us hack critical challenges: Techies, developers, designers, data analysts, health innovators, UX architects, data security experts, business analysts, service designers and others.

Why should you attend?

  • The winning team/s with the best idea will get a £200 prize vouchers. We may also adopt some of these to fund and develop further.

  • Participants will gain access to inside knowledge and expertise from the NHS and healthcare system.

  • Contributing to the NHS.

  • Network with other professionals 

What can I bring into the event?

Laptop/mobile device with internet connectivity, pen and paper recommended. This is an interactive session.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Nope! Simply show your digital ticket.
