HOW MIGHT OPEN DATA HELP IMPROVE INTEGRATION ?
We invite you to explore this question with us in joint collaboration across newcomers, activists, designers, programmers, start-ups and curious citizens.
WHAT IS IT?
Integration Hack is a weekend long hackathon dedicated to explore and learn about how open data might work as a resource to ignite and improve current integration efforts.
We're embracing the concept of 'hacking' understood as intense cooperation between people with different competencies to suggest effective short-cuts that demonstrate new ways of making improvements.
The aim is to identify and harness the opportunities of the arrival of migrants and refugees in Denmark - and finding the best way to ramp up these efforts using open data to create viable and sustainable solutions.
Throughout the weekend we will feed your body with snacks and lunches and feed your imagination with inspirational examples and supportive expertise. In teams you will work through a whole design process, from an initial idea or question to a prototype or solid solution - and we will invite you to tinker with data in practice.
Most likely you will experiment with methods you’ve never tried out before. During the final session you’ll get the chance to receive feedback and input from experts covering both data, integration and business perspectives.
Your ideas might draw on crowdsourced maps and mapmaking. You might want to support curiosity, mitigate crisis, share CV’s or map competences? You might dream about building with geodata, roots, rights or global/local friendship? We encourage you to harness your passion and think outside the box!
WHY JOIN?
If you are eager to improve integration in Denmark or curious about the opportunities of open data we invite you to join us - either from the crisp mind of a beginner or as an experienced data-pro wishing to extend and challenge your repertoire.
The event is an opportunity for you to take part in proposing new ways of enabling technology to make Denmark a more welcoming place. We are eager to mobilise civil society and social entrepreneurs to make better use of data to increase the likelihood of successful integration.
You will be working with and connecting up with like-minded people from diverse backgrounds. Together you can propose and develop ideas and prototypes dealing with topics such as employment, competences or data stories.
ORGANISERS?
Integration Hack forms part of the EU funded project Open4Citizens that aims at reducing the gap between citizens and Open Data.
The 'just-about-to-be-launched' OpenDataLab Copenhagen is the result of efforts across Antropologerne, a consultancy where anthropologists and designers create insight and change, the tech data-expertise at Dataproces and a multidisciplinary Service Systems Design crew at Aalborg University in Copenhagen.
We are a citizen-centered laboratory in the making: A hub that aims to continue and expand open data dialogue and practice. Our aim is to make the potential of open data more obvious, accessible and possible to realise for the good of citizens in Denmark and beyond.
