In 2016 San Mateo County will host Hack-SMC, San Mateo County’s second Hackathon. Developers, engineers, entrepreneurs, students, techies, activists, designers and citizens of San Mateo County will participate in an all-day competition to use open data and technology to create web and mobile apps that improve our communities.

*: The prize amounts listed in event materials, including the event website, are based on then-current pledges of donations, and no prize amounts are guaranteed at any level until final prize awards are given via check (which will occur after the Event). In order to receive any cash prizes, each qualifying participant must complete additional tax-related paperwork (I.R.S. Form W-9). Participants cannot receive payment without completing this paperwork but are welcome to participate without completing this paperwork if they wish not to receive a cash prize. Any person winning over $600 in prizes at Hack-SMC will receive an IRS form 1099 at the end of the calendar year and a copy of such form will be filed with the IRS. Each winner must provide valid identification and a valid taxpayer identification number or social security number before any prize will be awarded.
