Hack the Senses - S01E01 Launch

What are the limits of human perception? How could we stretch and expand them?

The team that brought you Hack the Brain in 2015 is taking on the senses!

This is the first of a series of inspirational events that will explore state-of-the-art thinking about perception and sensory experience. Come along to learn more about the project and to hear some seriously mind-expanding ideas. In June we will run a hackathon to prototype new ways of pushing the boundaries of human perception. We'll have cookies too.

Schedule for the evening:

Imre Bard will briefly introduce the Hack the Senses project;

Prof. Jamie Ward from Sussex University will give us a quick intro to the neuroscience of perception;

Dr. Ophelia Deroy from the Institute of Philosophy at the School of Advanced Study will address themes around perception where philosophy and neuroscience converge;

Dr. Giles Hamilton-Fletcher from Sussex University will present the latest advances in sensory substitution.

Stick around for drinks and chat afterwards.
