HackHunterdon Hackathon - Cash, Prizes, Free Food! June 9-10, Flemington, NJ

Over 10K in cash & prizes at stake at HackHunterdon Hackathon

Still time to apply for the June 9th & 10th event

Hunterdon County’s annual hackathon, a 24-hour tech product creation competition, is still accepting applications for this year’s event to be held on June 9th and 10th at Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington.

Over $10,000 worth of cash and prizes will be divided among the winners, with the top team sharing a $5,000 cash prize.

HackHunterdon invites local software developers, UI/UX designers, and those just passionate about innovation and technology in general, to work in teams to build new products, connect with fellow hackers, learn, experiment, and be inspired. It is free to participate and those interested can apply, as well as explore and learn more about the hackathon, at www.hackhunterdon.com.

According to organizers, registrants thus far in 2018 have come not just form Hunterdon, but from all around the region, as well as from New York and Pennsylvania.

“It’s been a very diverse group so far,” stated Marc Saluk, Director of Economic Development for Hunterdon County, one of the three entities running the event, along with Flemington Community Partnership and The Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce. “Applicants have ranged from seriously experienced technologists to students just starting out and everything in between. But they all share a passion for innovation and have some terrific ideas they’re ready to get started on.”

Judging the teams’ projects this year will be Eric Herbel of local tech company Integrated Clinical Systems, Sam Napolitano, Sr. VP of Engineering at Viacom, and John Goodwin, an engineering manager at Facebook.

In addition to the prizes and the recruitment opportunities, organizers hope participants will form relationships with each other that lead to future projects with market potential.

“Bottom-line is that the event provides a platform for talented individuals to come together and explore real opportunities – and to have a lot of fun doing it” said Goodwin. “Teams from last year’s event are still developing together, so participating in the hackathon can truly be the start of something big.”
