FAQs

- When is it?

You will need to arrive between 16:30-17:00 on Friday 13th October. The event will end at around 17:30 on Saturday 14th October. For more information, please see our schedule.

- Where is it?

The hackathon will take place on the ground floor of the Sutton building (TSU) at Thornton Science Park.

- How much will it cost?

Our hackathon is 100% free! Meals, drinks and snacks will also be provided free of charge.

- Will there be transport?

There will be free buses between Thornton and the main UoC campus on Friday afternoon and at the end of the event on Saturday. Please note that there will be no bus service over night.

- What do I need to bring?

Bring your laptop if you have one, a phone and any chargers or extra hardware that you think might need. The Sutton lab computers will be available for your use. Bring some spare clothes and a sleeping bag if you think you might want a nap during the night. Meals will be provided, but feel free to bring snacks and energy drinks. Only drinks with a closeable lid will be permitted in the lab.

- Do I need a team?

We encourage students to form teams on the day of the hackathon although planning a team in advance is also fine. There will be a team-building session before the hackathon which will give you the opportunity to meet other participants and to form teams before we start. Team sizes should consist of between 2-4 people.

- I'm new to coding, is it for me?

Sure! Hackathons are for beginners. Help will be at hand from experienced mentors and your fellow students. We'll also be running talks and workshops where you will be able to learn new things and ask questions if you need help.

- Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

You must wear your University of Chester ID card.

- What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking is plentiful, alternatively students can arrive at the event by university bus from Chester, and a return bus will be provided at the end of the event. Your ID card will be required to enter the bus or access the car park.
