As many as 300,000 children are at risk of being trafficked for sex every year in the US. A majority of those being victimized in the sex trade are recruited and sold via the web.

Sex slavery is alive and well online. What will you do to stop it?

#HackTrafficking4Good is a two-day hackathon to engage the tech community in the movement to end commercial sexual exploitation. Held in Boston on January 23 and 24, we’ll be developing critical tools and gathering insights on how to ramp up efforts to combat sex trafficking online.

To make a critical impact we must:

  1. Gather intelligence on the size, scope, scale of the online illegal commercial sex trade and its customers;
  2. Identify and organize resources and allies to join the cause;
  3. Help law enforcement identify and build evidence against the most harmful buyers through their online activity; and,
  4. Disrupt the marketplace by targeting the customer journey.

To do so we need developers, engineers, coders, and other experts to visualize trends and statistics, GIS, perform social network analysis, offer predictive analysis and machine learning, and assist with data cleaning, text analytics, facial recognition, and image processing.

Tens of thousands of vulnerable people trapped in the sex trade need your help. Are you ready?
