HDB Cool Ideas Hack

Singapore's vision is to become the world's first Smart Nation -- a nation that provides opportunities for all and creates the conditions for a caring and gracious society, whilst doing so in a sustainable manner in our built environment.

Stronger community bonds where we live add to a happier, healthier nation. At the HDB Cool Ideas Hack (24-26 June), we're looking to uncover ideas that help us build better ties with our neighbours; enhance access to relevant and useful information; and let us make our homes greener and our living environment more sustainable. 

If you’re passionate about bringing people together or helping communities, this hackathon is perfect for you! 

Themes

The hackathon will centre around the following themes:

• Foster neighbourly ties: How can we leverage innovative technologies to enable, amplify and celebrate neighbourliness? How does neighbourliness in a ‘Sharing Economy’ work?
  
  
• Connect residents to the news they want: What tools can be adopted to make better use of available information and update residents on local news, needs and activities? What new data sources, like sensors in a “smart estate”, can we tap into?
    
• Make HDB living greener: How can we equip residents with knowledge on best practices and a better understanding of our environmental impact? How can technology, like Internet of Things, help monitor these practices and provide insights on how well we’re doing?

Workshops

We're organising three awesome workshops, to help you start thinking about the HDB Cool Ideas Hack: 

• Themes & Insights Workshop (18 June): Hear from HDB representatives and experts, as they share their insights about the hackathon themes. 
  
• Community Design Workshop (18 June): Participate in a hands-on ideation exercise based on human-centric design principles, and start thinking about the solution you want to develop at the hackathon. 
• Tech & Data Workshop (21 June): Find out from our technology partners, about the awesome technologies and datasets that will be available to you to bring your ideas to life at the hackathon.
