Health Hack Accra - Health Innovation Hackathon
EVENT SUMMARY
This is your chance to be part of the solution to some of Africa’s toughest health challenges.
Health Hack Accra will bring together social entrepreneurs from all backgrounds to tackle four key areas: Maternal & Reproductive Health, Access to Healthcare, Non-Communicable Disease, and Infectious Disease. Throughout the 48-hour competition, teams of 3-6 individuals will create, develop, and pitch innovative business models or products to a highly-esteemed local and international judging panel.
This event, sponsored by Merck KgaA, Darmstadt, will be held at Impact Hub Accra on 26-28 August, 2016.
RULES

All teams must register in advance of the event. Registration closes in mid-August and day-of registrations will not be allowed.

All teams must be comprised of 3-6 members. If you need additional members, check out the Pre-Hackathon Events to find potential teammates. If your current business proposal has more than six people, please select 3-6 to participate in the competition.

During the registration process, teams are required to select one Challenge Area for competition and provide a general description of their proposal. A team may update their profile and change their Challenge Area up until the registration closing date in mid-August, but will not be able to switch once registrations are final. Teams will compete against other proposals in the same Challenge Area during pitches.

Existing business ideas are allowed in this hackathon. The hackathon period will allow you to create and shape your idea with the assistance of mentors, but Challenge Areas are provided in advance so that you may think through your solution prior to competition.

No advance contact may be made with judges regarding your idea, and knowledge of such communication may lead to a team’s removal from the competition.

Health Hack Accra does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. If participants engage in discriminatory behavior toward other competitors or program leadership they may be removed from the competition, pending a decision made by Health Hack Accra leadership.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Limited parking is available at Impact Hub Accra. We are located in Osu, near Ako-Adjei Park, opposite the Methodist Church. A taxi rank is available on the corner near the church for those looking for transportation. Uber is also now available in Accra via a downloadable mobile app, and accepts both credit/debit cards and cash.

Can I update my registration information?
Registration information (including team members, challenge area, and general description) may be updated up until the closure of registration in mid-August. Once registration closes, all information is final.
