Helsinki Hackathon: Data & Visualization is a hackathon event in Helsinki that concentrates on Microsoft solutions and cloud-based services.

About the event
The hackathon is aimed for Excel-enthusiasts, Microsoft Power BI and SQL Server professionals, data scientists' and generally for people interested in building data visualizations using one or more tools from the Microsoft BI and data platform stack (Power BI, SQL Server, Excel etc.).
At the start of the hackathon you'll get a quick overview on what's out there, how to get started and how to use open data APIs to build visualizations and dashboards. You'll also get to spend an evening with people who love hacking, data and visualizing information! You don't want to miss this one!
The hackathon is about working in small teams, where you come up with an idea and start creating your visualization during the evening. At the end of the evening we'll showcase each team's solution. Best team or teams will win amazing prizes - more on those a bit later :)

This event is free of charge, but spaces are very limited. The event is held in English. Location for the event is Vilhonkatu 5 a (2nd Floor). Note: There is a 50 € no-show fee for people who reserve a ticket but do not attend! Should you need to cancel your attendance cancel your ticket through the Eventbrite service at least 2 working days ahead of the event.
What you'll need
Bring your own laptop, and have Excel 2013/2016 installed. It's also good to have a working Power BI subscription available (see http://powerbi.com).
We'll provide everything else including network connectivity, snacks and drinks! Have fun & learn new stuff - is there a better way to spend a Wednesday evening in Finland? No Sir, I don't think so!

- 5:10 pm: Introduction to Power BI, data visualization and Excel (Heidi Enho, MVP, Onsight Helsinki & Vesa Tikkanen, MVP, MCSM, Qumio)
- 6:00 pm: Set up teams and start creating!
- ~8:45 pm: Showcase your solution (5 min/team)
- 9:20 pm: Winner announced & beers
