HeyCuba Hackathon

Our goal is to build applications that expand the access to internet in Cuba, provide unbiased sources of information and improve the life of thousand of people in the island.

In Cuba, only 400K people can visit the Web unrestricted, whereas 2,600,000 can only send and receive emails. We are a nonprofit, we built a platform to access the web via email and we currently offer internet over email to more than 35K people in Cuba. Among our most notable services that we provide are wikipedia, medical library, weather forecast, social network, news, craigslist, translation, games and online dating.

We are calling you to implement your favority piece of the internet in Cuba, by building applications that run over email using our awesome API. We are offering three cash prizes of $500, $300 and $200 USD respectively. We will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner to all the participants while the event last, as well as the opportunity hangout with the "creme de la creme" of Cuban entepreanures in Miami, recluiters and business leaders.

You will have the opportunity to use our simple but powerful platform to provide free internet in Cuba, contribute to create an international impact and use your skills to improve the life of thousands of Cubans who never have experienced the internet before. You will change the word with us, have tons of fun and expand your network, all at the same time!
