International Open Data Day 2018 | MIAMI

OPEN DATA DAY HACKATHON: RESILIENCY IN RESPONSE TO CLIMATE CHANGE

Open Data Day is a worldwide celebration of open government and access to data. In South Florida, local software developers, coders, designers and other technologists will participate in a resiliency-themed hackathon featuring new open data sets provided by the City of Miami and the Open 211 Data Portal.

Code for Miami will set up a series of challenges for the hackers to work on, but feel free to explore and create your own project. Challenges questions may include: How to visualize changes in real estate demand in the face of climate impacts? How to inform citizens who do not own smartphones about extreme weather events?

If you’re not a hacker, don’t worry – the Society of Professional Journalists and FIU’s GIS Center will provide morning workshops on how to use Google Maps and ArcGIS Online to create simple maps with the online data sets. Then you can join in the fun during the afternoon!
