IPAs & APIs Hackathon
Let’s combine a few of our favorite things: beer, code, and competition. Avery Brewing Co. and Mondo Robot are proud to present the first IPAs & APIs Hackathon. Just your team, your brains, and the potential to win developer glory and an untold amount of Avery beer. All proceeds will benefit Women Who Code, a non-profit organization inspiring women to excel in technology careers.
Avery Brewing has expanded operations with a new brewery, restaurant, and tap room. Not only have they continued to craft innovative beers, they've also invested in state-of-the-art, world-class technology, both at the facility and online.
We want you, our hometown community, to join us in this challenge of bringing craft beer and technology together in ways that have never been done before. For this confluence of brew-nerds & tech-nerds, Avery will be creating a host of special IPAs that will make us all feel like winners in our code-induced comas.

How long does the Hackathon last?
24 hours on June 10-11th from 6pm - 6pm at Mondo Robot. Then you can go recuperate before coming to Avery on Sunday, June 12th for awards and a hack-preciation party with complimentary beers and grub for all those who could hack it.

Boulder! The hackathon is at Mondo Robot, 5445 Conestoga Ct., and the post-party is at Avery Brewing, 4910 Nautilus Ct. N.
Until when can I register?
The event is capped at 40 teams or 160 people, whichever comes first. Registration closes on May 31.
Can I participate alone or as part of a team?
Code in teams of up to 4, or as individuals. We want to keep this as open-ended as possible, so let the creativity flow as freely as the beer. After you click register, you will be prompted to register as an individual or as part of a team. If you are an individual and are interested in joining a team, please register as individual and click the appropriate box under team options.
Who is welcome to participate?
Anyone and everyone — Developers, Designers (UX/Visual), Idea creators, Marketers, etc.
What do I bring?
The event is BYOd(evice), BYOsdk, BYO-everything except the beer and food — we've got you covered there. There are no limitations on the types of technologies you decide to use. Shortly before the event, we will release RESTful APIs that expose Avery's beer and taproom data. Registrants will receive updates with API details via email leading up to the event.
What will the final product look like?
Each team will prepare Ignite-style, 3-minute presentations to demonstrate their submission and provide an oral presentation to the judges describing why their Submission would be successful. All coding for the Submission must be done on-site at the Hackathon. Any additional requirements concerning submissions will be specified in the Official Rules or provided during the Hackathon.
How will our Submission be judged?
Submissions and oral presentation of Submission will be judged by a panel of judges based upon the following equally-weighted criteria for both tracks: (1) originality of idea, (2) ability to clearly articulate the details of the Submission, (3) difficulty of technical implementation, (4) completeness of Submission, and (5) quality of the use of Avery Brewing Co APIs. In the event of a tie, the winning team will be determined by the judges based on the highest score for originality of idea. Each member of a winning team, along with all Submissions, is subject to validation by Mondo Robot and/or the judging organization, whose decisions are final and binding in all respects.
What can I win?
Winners will be announced at Avery Hack-preciation party on Sunday, June 12th:
- 1st Place = Each person on the winning team is an honorary Avery employee for 1 year — just the perks, not the werk. 1 year of complimentary draft beer in the Avery Restaurant & Tap Room & employee cost on Avery merch through 6/30/17; comp tickets to SourFest (6/18/16), Avery's Anniversary Party (8/6/16), and Strong Ale Fest (TBD 2017); $25 gift card per person; and 4 cases of cans for the team.
- 2nd Place = Each person gets complimentary beer & employee cost on Avery merch through 12/31/16; $25 gift card per person; and 4 cases of cans for the team.
- 3rd Place = $25 gift card per person + 4 cases of cans for the team.
