Language Policy Hackathon
Organized by
Pii and MCIS Language Solutions invites you to our full day Language Policy Hackathon to discover and create solutions towards removing cultural and language barriers in our every day lives. Individuals from Cabinet Office, Ministries of Health, Education, Labor and more will be present to lend insights to mitigate cultural barriers in health services, job training and employment, labor relations services, media and communications, and criminal justice issues such as human trafficking. A Keynote Speech will be delivered by Award-winning Filmmaker, judge at TIFF, HotDocts, Min Sook Lee.
This will also be an opportunity for academics and policy professionals to work with managers in language services along with non-profits that help the public with these crucial issues. Representatives from multiple Non-profit organizations across Ontario will be present to help participants create solutions including WelcomeHomeTO, Lifeline Syria and more! A final report will be published documenting the participants' names (if consent is provided) and solutions, along with a best practices consultation guide resulting from the sessions.
