Lead4Hope - HACKney For Social Change
Got a Start-Up idea that could solve community challenges in the Borough of Hackney? Aged 18-26? Join the Lead4Hope Mini Hack Challenge!
What is Lead4Hope? – Lead4Hope is a programme offering young people (18 – 26) a supportive environment to achieve their professional and educational goals. We are passionate about helping and enabling young people to make a positive change in their community through entrepreneurship.
What are the specific activities? –From March 2018 onwards, the young people participating in the Lead4Hope programme will have the unique opportunity to actively find solutions to the social challenges within the community through the HACKney for Social Change Hackathon. Over 4 - 5 sessions (July into September ) attendees will
- Identify the social challenges that they face
- Brainstorm ideas on possible solutions
- Pick an overall theme
- Attend a 2 day mini-Hackathon to create Start-Ups to solve these challenges & Pitch to Judges/Investors.
- The winning teams will get an opportunity to Incubate the idea and launch the concept in real life.
Participants will learn useful skills including independent thinking, public speaking, self-confidence boosting techniques, entrepreneurial skills and an effective roadmap to finding solutions for local community challenges. They will also get the opportunity to create problem-solving solutions for positive impact within specific areas: Community, Development, Leadership & Social Enterprise.
How much does it cost? –Lead4Hope is free; participants will not pay anything thanks to a grant from Aviva Community Fund.
What about transport expenses? –We will happily reimburse your transport expenses when you attend the sessions.
When is the next session? –The next session will take place from 12pm to 6.30pm on Friday, 13th July 2018.
Attendees MUST COMMIT to all the sessions. Dates to be confirmed on 13th of July.
