The rise of Maker IoT culture has led to the increase of maker hackathons throughout the world, including the Southeast Asian region.

In line with Strategic Thrust 3: Innovation, of the ASEAN ICT Masterplan 2020 (AIM2020), the ASEAN Makerthon 2017 is one of the many initiatives by ASEAN to drive a vibrant and responsive ICT sector to encourage entrepreneurship and idea generation.

The program is not only a competition but a platform to network, share and learn. To further encourage regional ICT growth, all 10 AMS have been invited to participate in the program, as well as ASEAN TELSOM’s dialogue partners.
