Experienced members of the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology Mining, Oil and Gas Club will facilitate a one day student hackathon at QUT Gardens Point to deliver innovative solutions to key ‘real world’ challenges and questions facing the mining and oil and gas industries in Australia and globally.

who should get involved
We’re looking for university students from a range of disciplines (no resources experience necessary) to form collaborative teams on the day to work on new ideas and solutions to three industry challenges.

on the day

Morning sessions (9:00am – 12:00 noon)
Welcome, introduction, group formation and hacking

Lunch (12:00 noon - 12:30pm)

Afternoon sessions (12:30pm – 5:00pm)
Hacking, preliminary judging, networking, final presentations and prizes

Refreshments on arrival, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.

Based on preliminary judging, finalist teams will present their ideas for a chance to win cash prizes! For each of the three industry challenges presented on the day, the top team in each category will win $1000, and second prize for each category is $300. So get ready to put your thinking caps on!

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

You can travel to and from QUT Gardens Point by bus, train, CityCat (ferry) or taxi. The campus has its own CityCat stop, and is a short walk from Central and South Bank train stations, and Mater Hill, King George Square and Queen Street bus stations. If driving, limited paid parking is also available nearby in the Science and Engineering Centre carpark which can be accessed from Gardens Point Road.
