NUS Ultimate Learning Weekend

Interested in the education space?

We’re excited to see you at the Ultimate Learning weekend in February. As students, researchers or entrepreneurs - we’re sure you have great ideas on how to improve learning. Come join us to brainstorm, prototype and create new learning products in small teams. We intend to implement the best ideas at NUS.

Why attend?

Unlike a conventional hackathon, you are not required to code a prototype by the end of the weekend. What matters is that your ideas are well thought out and designed to match needs of education.

  • Up to 10,000 SGD cash prize to implement the idea.

  • Internship over the summer to implement your project.

  • Working space.

  • Learn about learning sciences through workshops and experiences of your teammates. Researchers will be conducting workshops on how people learn so that you can use those principles in the technologies you decide to design or create.

  • Get your ideas heard by the NUS community. Judges and mentors will include influential professors and administrators who will implement your technologies if they find them matching their needs.

  • Letter of reference from Associate Provost.

Who is this for?

Anyone associated with NUS! We invite

  • Students from all faculties - whether you’re a designer, business student or programmer, we want you!

  • NUS researchers - we need your expertise!

  • Entrepreneurs - already graduated from NUS? Come back as a mentor, participant or sponsor if you are interested in education technology!

  • Prospective students - thinking about studying at NUS? Come meet the NUS community, the professors, and fellow students!

How it works?

Similar to a hackathon, this event involves working with teams over a weekend to co-create interesting ideas and designs for education technology.

You join us as a team or as an individual, mingle with other participants and brainstorm ideas on how would you want the education at NUS to look like in the next five years. Ideas can come out of any of the following themes:

  • Collaborative

  • Active learning

  • Extending beyond the school

  • Machine learning in education

There will be workshops conducted learning sciences wherein you can get more ideas about the type of product you want to design.

At the end of the weekend, all teams will be required to pitch their long-term vision and demonstrate the alfa version of the product or design to judges who determine the winners.
