Office of the Citizen Hackathon 2.0 - Not Everytime Rant; Sometimes ACT!
Enough is Enough, Co-Creation Hub, BudgIT & Paradigm Initiative Nigeria cordially invite you to join us at the Office Of The Citizen Hackathon 2.0
Office Of The Citizen is an idea that places citizens at the heart of governance as we believe that the ‘Office of the Citizen’ is the highest office in the country – superior to any government office as citizens have the power to determine the direction of governance.
The theme of the Office Of The Citizen Hackathon 2.0 is “Not Everytime Rant; Sometimes ACT!”
At Office Of The Citizen Hackathon 2.0, mixed teams of developers, designers, governance practitioners and active citizens will collaborate to build prototypes of technology platforms/apps where active citizens can engage to provide solutions to key trending issues in their locality.
The hackathon will be preceded by a Kick-Off Workshop by (12noon) on Friday 24th of February, 2017 where a mixed panel will set context around the opportunities for citizens to engage in proferring solutions to local issues. Speakers at the kick-off workshop will include:

2. Direct Action/Active Citizen: Adeolu Ogunbanjo (President National Association of Telecom Subscribers NATCOMS)

4. Political Engagement: Jude Feranmi (KOWA), Muyiwa Gbadegesin (APC) & Babasola Kuti (PDP)

On Sunday 26th of February, the prototypes will be presented in a public show-and-tell event by (3pm) and the winning solutions will be selected. The teams behind the winning solutions will be funded to complete development & launch of their solution.
Please note that apps or solutions created will be exclusively owned by Enough is Enough Nigeria (EiE).
Office Of The Citizen Hackathon 2.0 is an initiative of Enough is Enough Nigeria in collaboration with Co-Creation Hub, BudgIT and Paradigm Initiative Nigeria. Office Of The Citizen Hackathon 2.0 is funded by USAID.
Office of the Citizen Hackathon 1.0 was held in August 2015. It was an open hack and the top 3 teams were given token gifts. These groups will be invited to serve as interns for the 2.0 hack and those interested will be engaged to build-out the platform.

The Hosts
Enough is Enough Nigeria (EiE) is a coalition of individuals committed to instituting a culture of good governance and public accountability in Nigeria through active citizenship.
Co-Creation Hub (CcHUB) is Nigeria’s first open living lab and pre-incubation space designed to be a multi-functional, multi-purpose space where work to catalyze creative social tech ventures take place. The HUB is a place for technologists, social entrepreneurs, government, tech companies, impact investors and hackers in and around Lagos to co-create new solutions to the many social problems in Nigeria.
BudgIT’s innovation within the public circles comes with a creative use of government data by either presenting them in simple tweets, interactive format or infographic displays. Equality and open access to governance is entrenched in democracy and its institutions and as such, budgetary information as a vital asset needs to be understandable and accessible to all Nigerians.
Paradigm Initiative Nigeria (PIN) is a social enterprise that connects Nigerian youth with ICT-enabled opportunities. Having worked with government, civil society, private institutions and international organizations, PIN’s projects build on years of combined experience and focus on socio-economic development. Our projects include Capacity Building programs such as L.I.F.E. and TENT; ICT Policy intervention programs and the #DigitalJobs campaign.
