OpenIDEO LA: Rethinking Plastics Hackathon

“How might we get products to people without generating plastic waste?”

Join OpenIDEO LA for a full day focused on human-centered-design (HCD) and sustainability.

On July 22nd we will be hosting our first hackathon with facilitated exercises by local experts around ideation, prototyping and testing. Come with a team or ready to join, and get hands on experience learning HCD and problem solving for social impact. 

Over the course of of the day you will:

1. Form a team: network and collaborate with local impact community and get feedback from international teams

2. Ideate (brainstorm): learn the human-centered design exercises and process of dreaming up moonshot ideas, collaborating, and honing down to one idea.

3. Prototype: communicate your solution through a working prototype

4. Test + Iterate: go out into the world and test your prototype's assumptions with real users and then iterate the idea!

5. Receive mentorship: meet with design thinking experts who will facilitate exercises and be available for one of one advice.

6. Enter to win $10,000: All early-stage ideas submitted to the Circular Design Challenge have a chance to win US$10,000 for implementation.
