Operation Hack: Veterans Hackathon

    Hosted by City of Hope on Saturday, May 4, 2019 Operation Hack: City of Hope hosts a Veterans Hackathon with Deloitte, Oracle, Microsoft, US Army and the L.A. County Assessors Office on Saturday May 4, 2019. This is a local hackathon to help transitioning military, service members, veterans, and military spouses demonstrate their ethical hacking skills and meet future employers as well as compete with their peers. Registered participants will form their own teams in advance for a total of nine teams comprised of a minimum of two and not to exceed five members, over the age of 18.  Please bring your own laptops and power cords.  New Mission Objectives: Attention participants. There has been a change in the hack and scope of mission. Given the threats to the healthcare industry as it relates to patient information security we have a new task. Participants will be challenged with designing possible solutions to be presented for judging at conclusion of the hackathon. Teams will be asked to field solutions to securing and protecting healthcare information for both cloud and server based systems. Teams will be given a maximum of five hours to create their solutions. Teams will use their last hour to present their solutions to the panel of judges who will help identify the winning solution which will be awarded a $1000.00 prize from Microsoft. The event will kick off on Saturday, May 4 at City of Hope’s Administrative Center in Baldwin Park with breakfast, introductory comments from all partners, rules of engagement and begin generating ideas. Certificates of Recognition along with cash prize announcements will be provided by the Deloitte, Oracle, Microsoft immediately following the presentations. This is a free event and meals and snacks will be provided throughout the day.
