Panel Discussion: Technology and LGBTQ+ Youth Communities

Airbnb’s LGBTQ+ employee resource group, AirPride, in Partnership with TurnOut, Out in Tech, and TPG, is excited to host a panel discussion featuring individuals who are developing technologies and driving conversations that help bridge the gaps faced by LGBTQ and youth communities. Join the speakers and members of these organizations for dinner, drinks and a thoughtful discussion. The evening will run on the following schedule:  6pm - 6:45pm : Doors Open + Dinner Service 6:45pm - 8:00pm : Panel Discussion 8:00pm : After Party at Oddjob SF! Note: If you arrive after 7pm Check In will be closed and you will not be able to join the event Moderator Jeff Henry (Communications Manager), Airbnb Panelists Jack Beck (Executive Director and Founder). TurnOut Jack Beck is the Founder and Executive Director of TurnOut, a Bay Area nonprofit that connects volunteers with LGBTQ+ causes. By working with individual volunteers and LGBTQ+ groups at high schools, colleges, and businesses, TurnOut builds a community of service dedicated to supporting the nonprofit infrastructure the queer community depends on. Jack has worked in the LGBTQ+ nonprofit sector for the past ten years, working to support grassroots queer organizations in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.  Gary Goldman (Program Director, Out in Tech) Out in Tech Gary Goldman is the Program Director of Out in Tech, a not-for-profit that unites the LGBTQ+ tech community by providing web services for activists around the world, equipping youth with resources and mentorship to ensure career access, and organizing thought-provoking events for aspiring tech leaders. He is responsible for shaping the trajectory of the organization and its event/impact-based offerings to the community, both at home and abroad. Previously, Gary was a Senior Program Advisor at Community Systems Foundation, an organization that provides data management services to United Nations and government agencies.  Gary is originally from France and currently lives in New York. Monica Arrambide (CEO and Founder), Maven Monica Ann Arrambide, the CEO and Founder of Maven, has over 22 years of experience working with queer youth. Maven is a national nonprofit that aims to empower queer youth to become innovators of technology through tech camps, hackathons and tech internships. Monica is passionate about youth engagement in the tech sector and providing opportunities for queer youth to explore careers in tech. Cyan Banister (Partner), Founders Fund  Cyan Banister is a partner at Founders Fund, where she invests across sectors and stages with a particular interest in heavily regulated industries, marketplaces, SaaS and businesses that help people with basic skills find meaningful work. Prior to joining Founders Fund, Cyan was an active angel investor with a portfolio including Uber, Thumbtack, SpaceX, EShares, Postmates and Affirm. A self-taught engineer and entrepreneur, Cyan has held a number of technical leadership positions throughout her career. As an early employee at IronPort, which was acquired by Cisco, Cyan oversaw support infrastructure and performance for a global customer base.Cyan has a passion for the arts and is a voracious film, documentary and media consumer. She is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Zivity, and the Co-founder of Signal Media Project, a nonprofit organization that promotes and facilitates the accurate portrayal of science, technology, and history in popular media.  Nikole Pagan (Program Manager), Give OUT Day As the Data Services and Give OUT Day Manager, Nikole M. Pagan is responsible for implementing two critical functions for Horizons Foundation.  Nikole manages the day to day operations of Horizons’ Salesforce database, and ensures the overall data integrity for grantmaking and development. In her role as Give OUT Day Manager, Nikole is responsible for the strategy and implementation of the only LGBTQ national online fundraising campaign that annually engages over 300 LGBTQ nonprofits across the 50 states, DC, and the territory of Puerto Rico.  The Give OUT Day program provides strategy, planning tools, training, capacity building, and technical support to participating organizations that can be implemented on Give OUT day as well as throughout the year. Throughout her career in philanthropy, Nikole has worked with nonprofits of various sizes. From serving on the board of a grassroots nonprofit to working with organizations with multi-million dollar budgets, she understands the different – and similar – challenges organizations with disparate capacities face.  She has a history of activism and community organizing, and is skilled in small to large group meeting facilitation. Nikole holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Masters degree in Public Administration, both from San Francisco State University. Her work allows her to marry her life-long passion for social justice with her education and professional career.
