#peacehack returns as a key event in the Talking Peace Festival, and this year we’re going to do something a little different. We’re inviting you (as coders, developers, designers or just someone who’d like to get involved) to sign up to our #peacehack and build a bot to send messages of peace.
Bots have been used in a multitude of ways from light-hearted efforts to tweet poetry through to influencing decisions and pushing services.
Our question this year is should we now maximise this medium for peace and can that be done in an ethical way? If so how can we most successfully do it?
Working in partnership with Build Up we need you, to help us show that by all taking small actions for peace we can make a massive difference. We believe that together we can create a flock of Twitter bots, to celebrate this International Day of Peace.
We’ll gather at the venue of this years’ Talking Peace Festival, House Of Vans London on September, 23. There we’ll ponder the ethics around using this and other technologies as well as look at how far we’ve spread our message and see if we can amplify it further on the day.
We’d love you to get involved, and don’t be put off if you’ve never made a bot before. Just bring your laptop and within minutes we can get you started!
The venue
House of Vans London occupies 5 tunnels directly underneath Waterloo Station. It hosts a variety of events including music, film, food, skateboarding and many others. It is also the venue of our Talking Peace Festival 2017.
