PINK Concussions Symposium and Hackathon on Female TBI and Hormones

The PINKconcussions Symposium on Female Concussion/TBI and Hormones will take place on October 7-8 at the VA Pal Alto Health Care System. This PINKconcussions event is co-hosted by the Veterans Adminstration and Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC).

The purpose of this two event is on the first day to present current research and then review related-studies, and then through a Saturday Hackathon partner industry, academia and adovcates to set an agenda for future research milestones. 

There will be a civilian and a military keynote. The civilian keynote address will be presented by Louann Brizendine, M.D. who is a practicing clinician at UCSF, best-selling author, public speaker and media commentator. The military keynote will be announced soon.

KEYNOTE Louann Brizendine, M.D. completed her degree in Neurobiology at UC Berkeley, graduated from Yale School of Medicine and did her internship and residency at Harvard Medical School. She has also served on both the faculties of Harvard University and University of California at San Francisco. Now at UCSF, Dr. Brizendine pursues active clinical, teaching, writing and research activities, where she founded the Women’s Mood and Hormone Clinic in 1994 and continues to serve as the clnic’s director. Her New York Times best-selling first book, “The Female Brain,” has been translated into 39 languages and its follow-up, “The Male Brain,” ..well, is trailing behind in only 16 languages! She is now the Lynne and Marc Benioff endowed professor of clinical psychiatry at UCSF.
