ProtoHack Toronto: OpenEd Hacks
OpenEd Hacks: Innovating in Education
OpenEd Hacks is an education technology hackathon that connects students with startups to reinvent education through technology, data and design. OpenEd Hacks provides participants with the education, mentorship and resources necessary to bring their ideas to life.
Participants can choose to build their own independent project or contribute to one of the challenges presented by our partner startups. Our partner startups will present a variety of challenges to participants, including:
- Access to anywhere-anytime learning that builds creative, computational and collaborative skills
- Applying data analytics to customize learning
- Using social networking to enhance collaboration
- Developing experiences for 21st century competencies such as coding, empathy and design principles
How does it work?
ProtoHack is a 12-hour experience where you will build a prototype that communicates an idea visually. During ProtoHack you’ll learn how to use the best prototyping tools in the industry, network with like-minded people with various backgrounds, become a better product person, and receive access to prototype tools, learning communities, and other prizes just for attending (up to $300-400 value!)
Although we encourage you to try some prototyping tools prior to attending ProtoHack, we will begin ProtoHack with an educational workshop on how to use some of the top prototyping tools.
You'll work with teams of 4 to 6 people over 12 hours to produce a prototype. At the end, your team will present on stage to a panel of judges consisting of business leaders, innovators, and designers to get feedback.
