Raspberry Jam - Library of Birmingham

The Birmingham Picademy@Google team will be hosting a Raspberry Jam at Google Digital Garage in the Library of Birmingham.

Would you like to know more about the Raspberry Pi computer? It really doesn't matter if you can't code or don't have a Raspberry Pi we will show and teach you everything you need to know, and besides - it's not all about coding.

Whats a Raspberry Jam?

"Raspberry Jams are events organised by the community to share knowledge, learn new things, and meet other Pi enthusiasts. They’re a great way to find out more about the Raspberry Pi and what you can do with it, and to find like-minded people."

About our Jam?

The Raspberry Jam will kick off at 12:00, the Library opens at 11:00 and I will be setting up then, if you are good at moving a tables and chairs, perhaps you would be willing to help?

The Jam will be held in the Brainbox room at Google Digital Garage on Level 1 of the Library, the plan is to host some workshops in half of the Brainbox room and the other half will be for general hacking and chatting, we will be able to spill out of the room into the Digital Garage itself.

The schedule looks a bit like this:

- 12:00 - arrive

- 12:30 - open & stand ups - a chance for anyone to ask a question, display a project, talk about an idea, anything!

- 13:00 - introduction to physical computing - using code to control LEDs and Buttons
- 13:45 - hack-a-thon - 1 hour to hack and come up with a project or work on an idea and make something great

- 14:45 - presentation & close - if your are up for it, its your opportunity to show everyone else your hack - perhaps there will even be a prize

We have a good number of Raspberry Pi's, lap docks, led's, buttons, resistors and other stuff but if you want to bring your own, please do.

HELP

I need help to make the Jam a success:

- Please bring along any projects you have worked on, its inspiring to see what you have all been up to with your Raspberry Pi

- If your a computer whizz, please volunteer to support the hack-a-thon by helping people form ideas and turning them into reality

- If you can spare an hour from 11am to help setup that would be brilliant, the only skills required are a strong back and the ability to move tables.

- Please take part, have a smile on your face and show other people what you have been doing.

If you can help, please let me know.
