Red Cross Hackathon Advancing Social Cohesion

In connection with the 2016 National Practitioners’ Forum, Red Cross invites you to participate in a Hackathon focusing on the interactions between culture, language, religion, and social cohesion in modern Australia. Startup accelerator and innovation leaders, BlueChilli will be facilitating the Hackathon. They have a wide range of experience facilitating these types of events. They create actionable outcomes as well as lasting professional relationships between cross-sector participants.

The 2016 Practitioners’ Forum will bring together leading experts and practitioners to explore issues and ideas with a focus on practical responses.

The purpose of this event is for participants with a range of perspectives and diverse backgrounds to define a specific ‘problem’ relating to social cohesion and workshop a potential solution in a sprint-style of workshopping. With a clearly defined problem, participants then brainstorm solutions or ‘hacks’ to develop innovative solutions in small groups. The Hackathon’s scope is limited to practical solutions that advance social cohesion. The types of ideas can be tech-based or not but should focus on an information-drive, systems type solution.

Groups will go through an ‘ideation’ phase where they will come up with ideas, a prototype phase where ideas will be tested, and the pitch which will be delivered at the Practitioners’Forum.
