The Real Estate Standards Organization, more affectionately known as RESO, is upping the stakes in real estate software. Each year the most important people in real estate, the people who are behind the code of your favorite real estate products, gather each year to help move real estate technology forward.

Change the course of Real Estate history. Real Estate represents one of the most fundamental attributes in the world economy. Unfortunately, innovation is slowed by the difficulty to access essential data. RESO DataComp is working with industry leaders to make this data available to the smartest and most innovative thinkers enabling them to explore new ideas in the world of Real Estate. The mission of DataComp is for bold thinkers to explore the opportunities created when ease of access to data is available. This is open to all technology sectors including mobile, web, VR and AR, device, hardware, and drone applications.

This competition is focused on using RESO compliant APIs. Just a quick history lesson: Before RESO existed most real estate listing data was delivered via "RETS" or the Real Estate Transaction Standard. Without diving too deep into the details this was a cumbersome and outdated way to find real estate data. RESO has ushered in a new and modern approach with their Web API. This allows developers to request listings in real time with out needing to duplicate an entire database.

RESO DATACOMP is working with a handful of providers that are RESO compliant and are approved for use in this competition. You may use an additional source of data to complement your product but you MUST use an approved data API as your main data source.

    Spark API

Created by industry software innovator FBS, the Spark Platform inspires real estate innovation. As the industry’s first and most widely utilized listings API, Spark is the benchmark delivering efficiency, streamlined licensing, robust documentation and most importantly, access to the data you need to create awesome products.

Data Available: There are three main categories of data available through the API: ListingsContacts and Market Stats. The access level to each data type is dependent on the role assigned to each user. For example, members of the MLS can access more listing information than consumers on an IDX web site. More information on roles is here.
