Royal Hackaway

Royal Hackaway is an inclusive, 24 hour MLH 2018 season hackathon on the 13th/14th of Janury hosted on the Royal Holloway campus. A first for Royal Holloway, we have a super team of hackathon veterans and are super excited to see you all! 

So what's happening? 

Over 24 hours, students (aged 18 or above) of all skill levels will be coming together to share cool ideas and battle it out to build awesome things! There'll also be fun minigames, challenges and free food/drink to make sure you have an absolutely wonderful time.

Wait, aren't "hackathons" bad?

Not at all! Hackathons are creative events (not breaking into stuff) where people "hack" hardware, software and services together to build cool stuff. Our partner, MLH has a great description.

But I don't have any experience -  I won't be any good!

Nonsense - everyone has to start somewhere! We'll have industry vetrens and seasoned hackers alike on hand to help out - hackathons are collaberative so everyone shares tips and ideas, even if you aren't on the same team. You'll meet loads of new people and are guranteed to make friends! 

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

You'll need to show valid proof of age (18+, photo ID) and proof of your student status. 

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The best way to get here is by train to Egham Station. The university operates a shuttle bus between the station and campus for £1 each way. You can find a copy of the timetable here.

Unfortunately we aren't able to offer on campus parking, there is usually space near the campus in side streets but space isn't guranteed. (Please note: ANPR operates on campus with a PCN of £60 for unauthorised/illegal parking)
