Apply here to participate in the Hackathon which will take place from 4pm on Friday, May 20, 2016 through 7pm on Sunday, May 22, 2016 or buy tickets to attend the opening and the closing pitch contests.

To register as an attendee of one or both pitch contests click on 'get tickets' on the top of this page and select one of the attendee tickets.

To register & apply as a participant click on 'get tickets' on the top of this page and select one of the participant's tickets - depending if you're a student, an early-stage start-up or regular participant. After that you will be taken to the application form. Please answer all questions to complete the application process.

Submitting an application and buying a ticket does not guarantee your acceptance as a participant. Anyone who wants to be a participant does, however, have to complete the application and buy a ticket.

To ensure a supportive environment for all participants and the integrity of the event, we reserve the right to disallow some applicants. Having a disallowed teammate will not count against the application of other team members. If you are disallowed and you have purchased a ticket, you will be given a full refund at your request.

If you haven’t found a team by the start of the event on Friday, May 20, you will be able to pitch your project to prospective teammates or join up with someone whose pitch you like. You may also be a team of one. No shame in that game.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until we have reached capacity. Capacity could be reached at any time, but the application process will close on Friday May 6, at 5pm no matter what. You must apply before that date. Since the application process could end before that, apply as soon as you can.

Hackathon Agenda

Friday, May 20

4pm - opening of the hackathon, networking, introductory notes

5pm - hackathon opening pitch contest (individual participants pitch their ideas and form or join teams).

7pm - start of the hackathon. participants can either stay overnight or come back early in the morning on Saturday, May 21.

Saturday, May 21

full day of coding, designing, creating;

Sunday, May 22

coding, designing and creating until 2pm.

the last two hours technical mentors (represented by partners, sponsors, UCSD, The City) circle around all the teams to do technical vetting (validate that the teams actually developed code).

3pm - Pitch contest. Each team gets 10 minutes: 5 minutes for the pitch and 5 minutes for Q&A (depending on the number of teams this can take up to three hours with a break).

6pm - 5 finalists are announced.

7pm - end.

The winner selection and awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 25 at 5pm. More information will be available soon.
