Let's face it: changing habits is hard. Major lifestyle diseases, like adulthood diabetes, take way too many lives each year. We know what we should do to prevent those deaths. The problem is not the lack of information, but implementation of it. We are yet to identify and spread the most powerful methods to nudge people towards healtier, sustainable lifestyles.
The Nursing Research Foundation, Skhole, Lapland University of Applied Sciences and Iris AI warmly invite you to apply to the Science Hackathon, (or Scithon as we call it) by March 7th. Join us in mapping the most impactful methods to enable lifestyle changes. Search tools ranging from AI to other more traditional ones will be available to all teams. The best three teams will win cash prizes of 3000€, 1000€ and 1000€, respectively.
WHAT: Scithon is a research sprint of 12 hours where teams of 3-4 are asked to search the academic literature to answer how lifestyles can be impacted. All teams will have access to Iris, the AI science assistant and other research tools during the sprint.
GOAL: To identify the different methods that have been used to impact people's lifestyles on the basis of scientific knowledge.
PRIZE: Cash prize of 3000€, 1000€ and 1000€ will be awarded to the TOP3 teams selected by the event jury.
WHEN: The Scithon will be organised on March 14th 2017 at 9:00 am-8:00 pm in Rovaniemi, Finland. All participants are expected to work on-site throughout the day.
WHO WE LOOK FOR: Researchers and students with a curious mind from across research disciplines. Previous experience in the areas of the research problem is not required.
APPLY BEFORE MARCH 8TH: Apply to the Scithon by filling out this form (clicking "attend" to this Eventbrite event does not qualify as an application). You can either apply with your team or individually. The organizers will create teams based on the individual applications prior to the event.
