SIC 2016 Design Swarm with MSR

The SIC Design Swarm is a creative hack that combines the agility of a hackathon with the power of design thinking, strategy and technology. The process embraces the frenetic nature of problem-solving with wonderfully incomplete information and short timelines.

Teams compete to find disruptive solutions to solve real-world problems. This year’s Swarm will focus on issues around water purification and accessibility in low resource, global communities. In partnership with Mountain Safety Research (MSR), World Vision, and Operation Blessing International, teams will work with stakeholders from these organizations to bring solutions to those who lack access to clean drinking water. The scope of the problem is deliberately not revealed until the day of the event.

The process is directed by Surya Vanka, who has created the format and has led Swarms all over the world. Other Seattle Interactive attendees will be able to watch the creative process take place in real time in the exhibition Hub at the conference.

Should You Swarm?

Participating in a Design Swarm is a chance to give back, and to practice working in fast paced, cross-discipline teams, collaborating with leaders, and presenting ideas. Come with your own team or join another group of individuals onsite.  Each dream team should have a strong mix of skills. Experience is helpful, curiosity is mandatory.
