Singapore HDB Cool Ideas Hack

At the Community Design Workshop, Saturday 18 June, you'll get a chance to start thinking of the idea you want to develop at the HDB Cool Ideas Hack. We'll take you through a comprehensive ideation exercise, drawing on human-centred design, to help you identify the specific needs you'd like to address at the hackathon.

The hackathon will centre around the following challenges:

  • Foster neighbourly ties: How can we leverage innovative technologies to enable, amplify and celebrate neighbourliness? How does neighbourliness in a ‘Sharing Economy’ work?

  • Connect residents to the news they want: What tools can be adopted to make better use of available information and update residents on local news, needs and activities? What new data sources, like sensors in a “smart estate”, can we tap into?

  • Make HDB living greener: How can we equip residents with knowledge on best practices and a better understanding of our environmental impact? How can technology, like Internet of Things, help monitor these practices and provide insights on how well we’re doing?

Also, don't forget to check out the Themes & Insights Workshop for a deeper look into the hackathon themes, and the Tech & Data Workshop, to explore the technology and datasets available to you for this hackathon.
