Six 21: Project Sleeper Hackathon

The 2018 Project Sleeper Hackathon is an intense, fun and high energy event. Students from Six 21 will form teams with experienced professionals to brainstorm and develop solutions to the issues of teenage sleep. Your challenge will be to take an idea and 'hack it' into a working prototype by the end of the day. The following week, our student teams will exhibit their ideas to a public audience, and the solution that best meets their needs will win the competition.

Anyone with a passion for sleep, technology & design, or creating social change can take part!

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is best described as an “invention marathon”. Anyone who has an interest in technology attends a hackathon to learn, build & share their creations over the course of a weekend in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Typically, a hackathon is an event where teams of computer programmers collaborate and compete against each other to come up with the best solutions to a defined problem in a very short time frame (24-72 hours). We instead, are having all kinds of interesting people (not just computer programmers) compete to come up with solutions for sleep-improving initiatives. After a kick-off on Saturday morning, and building on the great work already completed by the Project Sleeper teams, participants will have until 5pm to pull together a workable prototype.

What do I need to bring?

You might want to bring your own computer or mobile devices, School 21 will not provide computers or laptops. We will provide Wi-Fi, power strips, whiteboards, and plenty of caffeine! We will also provide tasty food and drink throughout the event!
