Smart Cities Hackathon

Schneider Electric is hosting their annual Smart Cities Hackathon on February 1-2 (Thursday - Friday) at Lendlease Sydney on 'powering the digital economy'. This is part of their Smart Cities Program which runs from December 2017 - April 2018.  Topics will be based around urbanisation, digitisation and industrialisation. 

We're inviting all partners, customers, and innovation enthusiasts to think creatively, design solutions, and build the next disruptive solutions using digital. *extra brownie points with the use of Schneider products

#WhatsYourBoldIdea?

Register as an individual or team. There'll be a chance to meet potential team members during the Launch Night on Thursday 18 January. Teams must comprise of 3-5 people and consist of at least one of each of the following team members:

The Hustler - these are the people that understand how to pitch, they can sell ice to eskimos

The Hipster - your creative genius, they’ll design a product the cool kids will be fighting over

The Hacker - the MacGyver of your team, they bring the product to life

The Smart Cities Program is designed so ideas come to life! This is the start of the journey where we'll be solving real customer problems and implementing them into businesses. 

Timeline

Launch Night: Thursday 18th January

Hackathon: Thursday - Friday 1st-2nd February

MVP Sprint: Monday - Friday 4th-9th February (online tutorials with daily mentoring)

Showcase: Monday 12th February (3 finalists will pitch infront of thousands of Schneider Electric global executives, investors and customers)

Implementation: Teams will be integrated into businesses and have regular 'check ins'

FAQS

What is a Hackathon? A Hackathon is an internationally used and recognised term for 2-3 day intense and creative competition where a diverse group of people come together to make a tangible product or solution using technology over the allocated time period. It is used to solve problems, collaborate, and foster innovation.

Who owns the Intellectual Property? You own what you make. Participants have full ownership of their IP.

What is the agenda? Please come at 9am on the dot. We'll kick off then split into teams to tackle the problems. The venue will close at 9pm, then on Day 2 we will open up again at 9am. Winners will be announced at 5pm. 

Who can come? Anyone over 18 years of age is welcome to participate. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, student, lawyer, academic, engineer, freelancer, we want anyone to come and participate.

What if I don’t have a team? The beauty about hackathons is the ability to meet new people and to work with them.Teams will be formed during the Launch Evening on Thursday 18 January.

What do I bring? Your laptop, power outlets and your creativity!! We will supply food, drinks and snacks. 

What should I wear? Anything comfortable
