SOURCE360: Hip-Hop Youth Tech & Music Hackathon
The Source and Blue 1647 (the top entrepreneurship/innovation center for youth & adult technology education) partners to host The SOURCE360 Youth Hackathon on August 10th during the 4th Annual SOURCE360 Conference in Downtown, Brooklyn.
Who can participate?
Youth (grades 6 -12) are invited to participate in this event and encouraged to think creatively about how hip hop culture and technology can solve problems in our communities. This is an opportunity to learn new skills, get creative, make connections, and do something awesome in only 12 hours.
What if I don't know how to "code"?
Don't sweat it! All kinds of creative brains help make apps & other tech products. From concept - to design - to communicating the value of it - it doesn't matter how technical you are or whether or not you have any coding or hackathon experiences.
What can I build in the hackathon?
Anything, really! While our focus is on web & mobile technology, we encourage teams to come up with cool, clever apps that include a large variety of perspectives & ideas. Part of the fun is learning how to program and work with other people. We'll also provide some great workshops to teach you some coding basics.
What should I bring with me?
All you have to bring is creativity, energy and an interest in technology!
