Talks #100 - Anniversary Edition with Docker & Functional programming. Powered by UiPath
Organized by
Yes, dear friends! It’s been 4 years since we started our first technical meetup with a gang of only 20 enthusiastic programmers. 100 editions later we are a big & active community with thousands of hearts in love with the same thing: bleeding edge tech.
Our Anniversary edition will be epic: Docker & Clojure will rock the stage and our amazing partner UiPath will bring us tasty pizza and cold beers to debate in style.
And guess what? We also like to party, so check out the After party event on our Facebook page.
Here’s the agenda for Talks #100:
19:30 - 19:45 - Welcome!
19:45 - 20:10 - Vali Mălinoiu → "From idea to product and from product to production"
A walk through setting up a Docker cluster the hard way, with loadbalancers, automatic service discovery, continuous delivery, continuous deployment, and a fully fledged production and staging environment, for under 50E.
20:10 - 20:20 - Break
20:20 - 20:45 - Mihai Petrescu & Bogdan Titiriga → Robotics in Payments
In this session you can see a POC, built as part of a hackathon, that automates the testing process of a POS device. See how Python, Java, AngularJS, Robot Framework and others integrates and runs together on a Raspberry PI.
20:45 - 20:55 - Break
20:55 - 21:20 - Alexandru Gherega → Fun-ctional Programming & Clojure
Imperative vs. Declarative? That is one of the questions which in the past decades has leaned towards the latter. Wouldn't you like NOT to have to write a unit-test for every single nugget of code? That is one of the many benefits we'll dig into this talk.
To sum-up, during this talk we'll succinctly give an overview over the FP paradigm as a declarative approach to coding, we'll see what the current FP landscape has to offer (both academic and commercial), we'll have a closer look at the cool Clojure language and gain insight into this technology – active research, industrial use, success stories, best APIs and libraries, careers and – most critically – what the future of all this could bring. See you there!
21:20 - Networking! :D
22:00 - Partyyyy
