Techfugees Adelaide Hackathon 2018

HOW MANY WAYS TO CHANGE THE LIFE OF A REFUGEE?

DO YOU HAVE AN INNOVATIVE IDEA THAT WOULD HELP REFUGEES LIVING IN SA?

Following the success of the inaugural Techfugees Adelaide Hackathon in 2017, it's back!!

The Techfugees Adelaide Hackathon brings together developers, designers, entrepreneurs, marketers, business minds and community members to develop creative solutions that focus on improving the lives of refugee families in Australia.  Health? Housing? Language? Budget? Social? Employment? What can we do to make settlement smoother sailing?

Former refugees who have settled in Australia will also be participating in this event to help teams deeply understand the problems and challenges faced by new arrivals. The format of the Hackathon will draw strongly on co-design principals and practices. You don't need any technical or business experience to attend, just a willingness to learn and contribute.

Leaders from Adelaide's burgeoning Tech and Startup community will mentor teams through the weekend.

What happens at the hackathon?

Friday night: Bring your ideas and present them in a 60 second 'Rocket Pitch'. This will help people choose which projects/ideas they want to work on and teams will be formed. You'll work with this team for the rest of the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday is work time! Develop your idea. Validate it by doing research and finding customers. Revise. Change it up. Keep it moving.

Sunday afternoon is Pitch Time! You get to present your idea to a panel of judges for your chance to win prizes that will help you grow your idea.

We will continue to update this event page as more details are confirmed including sponsorship and prize information.

Please also keep up to date through our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/techfugeesaustralia/

The Techfugees Hackathon is free to enter and meals are provided. Donations and offers of sponsosrship support are most welcome.
