THack @ Bengaluru travel hackathon

THack Bengaluru

What's your BIG idea to improve travel?

Can you and your developer friends dream it, code it and present it to our judges over the weekend?

Here's your chance to make the travel experience better ... and win your share of more an US$5,000 in cash and other prizes.

Join Tnooz and up to 100 developers at THack @ Bengaluru for a creative and collaborative hackathon to disrupt travel with your digital product or service.

Tnooz, the leading source of news and analysis about travel tech and the digital travel economy, brings our global hackathon series to RoomsTonite's headquarters in Bengaluru December 4-6.

THack @ Bengaluru is open to individual developers and teams up to five members who will compete on-site for more than US$5,000 in cash and other prizes. Participation by developers is FREE and registration on Eventbrite is required.

THack @ Bangalore brings together developers, designers and other digital "makers" as well as leading travel and technology companies for a creative competition that seeks solutions to real-world travel challenges.

Headline sponsors are Amadeus, RoomsTonite and IBM (and others to be announced).

THack's sponsoring organizations will provide access to their technology and expertise for programming solutions to the following travel challenges:

  • Inspiration, discovery, memories – Create a travel inspiration engine that reduces complexity in trip planning and leverages photos, videos and other visuals.
  • Air, land and water ... get me there – Create a multi-modal travel engine that helps travelers plan doorstep-to-doorstep journeys by considering all forms of transports.
  • No plan, no problem – Develop an engine that solves the problem of on-demand or unplanned travel ... before the trip or during the in-destination journey. Hint: tours, activities and food services are usually important to the connected traveler.
  • Personalise my experience – Using semantic search, artificial intelligence or machine learning, build an application that enhances traveler purchasing behavior.

THack @ Bengaluru  is FREE for developers, who may compete as individuals or form teams with a range of programming, design and business development skills. Registration is required for ALL participants. Admission is limited to 100 individuals or team members (maximum of 5 members per team). Earliest date of registration will be used to determine participation if the event is over-booked. Attendees must bring their admission ticket and a photo ID to enter the event. NOTE: All hackers must compete on-site. No virtual projects will be accepted.

THack will provide table-top space at RoomsTonite, power, wifi and A/V presentation equipment. Developers must bring their own laptops, software tools and special presentation devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, wearable tech, presentation devices/interfaces, etc.).

Food and beverage will be provided. We'll organize a drinks/snacks meet-up Friday, Dec. 4, 6 to 8 pm for developers to meet, form teams and pick tech sponsors' brains.

Hacking begins Saturday, Dec. 5 after 9 am check-in and API provider presentations and continues until noon on Sunday, Dec. 6 at noon. Developer presentations to a panel of expert judges will follow hacking, and THack concludes with prizes awarded and networking over casual dinner.

Additional information, including THack details on sponsor APIs, will be sent by email to registered attendees.

You are welcome to use the sponsored APIs offered (descriptions and registration details will be be supplied to registered developers a week prior to the event). No other proprietary APIs may be used, Note: APIs avaialble on the open internet (e.g., maps, social logins, open databases) may be used. Intellectual property developed by participants is owned by those inventors. APIs and other technology made avaialble for use during the hackathon is owned by the company offering its use based on the terms and conditions it outlines.
