THack @ Hamburg travel hackathon

Organized by

How would you transform the air travel passenger's discovery, shopping and on-board experience? Join 100 developers at THack Hamburg travel hackathon as they create new digital products, tools and services. Tnooz, the leading source of news and analysis about travel tech, will focus on airline passenger experience when our global hackathon series travels to Hamburg October 16-18. Presented in conjunction with the International Air Transport Association, THack Hamburg will offer access to IATA's NDC-compliant APIs for airline shopping and related travel services. IATA's XML-based New Distribution Capability (NDC) standards provide consumers with the same experience no matter where they do their shopping. THack Hamburg is open to individual developers and teams up to five members who will compete on-location for up to US$10,000 in cash and other prizes. Participation by developers is FREE and registration on Eventbrite is required. The location of the hackathon in Hamburg will be announced soon. THack Hamburg brings together developers from across the world, as well as leading travel and technology companies and their APIs, for a creative competition that seeks solutions to real-world travel challenges. THack's sponsoring organizations include IATA, Hotelbeds, Jet Messaging Technologies, Make It Social, Airbus, SITA, HP, IBM and others to be announced. These companies provide expertise and access to their technology for developers to solve the following travel challenges: Make it mobile, make it fast – As time to market is a major business issue facing the airlines and travel companies, show us how fast you can build a mobile application that empowers travelers with hand-held devices. Mobility + connectivity = productivity – Build a digital application or tool designed to support the modern business traveler and boost her or his productivity. Shopping/retailing experiences that "wow" travelers and the trade – Build a never-before-seen experience or tool that promotes buying and selling travel and related products and services before and during the journey. The goal: integrate rich content, new payment engines, in-flight entertainment, new search and aggregation and personalization tools. THack Hamburg is FREE for developers, who may compete as individual programmers or form teams with a range of programming, design and business development experience. Registration is required for ALL participants. Admission is limited to 100 individuals or team members (maximum of 5 members per team).
