WHO WE ARE
Kiosk is an award winning research and content agency, renowned for our skill in using mobile ethnographic techniques to produce rich, salient insights and beautiful content. We work with our participants to build trust and intimacy that is reflected in the strength and depth of the insights we gather; resulting in unprecedented access, deeper engagement and powerful insights.
We are born out of research, shaped by technology, and driven by real experiences. We pioneer research techniques, and use innovative technologies to connect with people all over the world, getting closer to the moments that matter.
WHAT IS A HACKATHON?
Traditionally a hackathon is an event that lasts 24 – 72 hours in which a large number of people meet to engage in collaborative computer programming. Modern Hackathons include outputs that go beyond programming. Kiosk Hacks utilise the principles and ethos of hackathons and apply them to technology driven projects including content generation and digital marketing.
THE MIPSTER HACK
Mainstream fashion in the UK is wonderfully diverse and enables expression. But, mainstream fashion brands are struggling to engage with BAME communities who approach fashion in a different (but consistent) way. Fashion, as approached by Muslim communities in the UK, is an extremely interesting space, full of emerging trends, and alternative means of expression.
Mainstream marketing campaigns and digital marketing campaigns are aimed primarily at mainstream consumer communities, in broadly un-nuanced ways. In the UK, very few brands are directly engaging with Muslim communities on their terms. Current communications strategies often seem disjointed with the realities, tastes and aspirations of fashion-engaged Muslim
Kiosk are organising a Muslim Fashion Insight Hackathon (Insight Hack), where we will engage a community of Hijabi/Muslim fashionistas to develop key insights to inform marketing strategy for fashion brands and retailers in the UK. The Kiosk Mipster Hackathon (#KioskMipsterHack) will build upon the Insight Hack and provide brands and retailers the necessary tools to develop relevant, engaging and exciting social media and digital campaigns.
The Kiosk Mipster Hack will involved 3 – 4 competing Hack teams that will build a social media / marketing campaign for a real retail client who is interested in speaking to Millennial Muslims. The results of the 24-hour hack will be judged by a panel of industry experts and our community of Muslim fashion consumers. Their goal will be to ensure that the winning campaign works for digital/social marketing experts as well as consumers of mainstream fashion.
GENERATING HIGH QUALITY CONTENT
Field Notes is our Android and IOS app for mobile devices and tablets that will enable the Hack teams to engage with consumer communities in real time to through videos and photos. Each Hack will have access to our Fashionistas via Field Notes to be able to collaborate and gather high quality user generated video content.
Through Field Notes, we can invisibly connect with a community that needs more visibility in mainstream communications and use Field Notes as a mouthpiece for this often silent and and ignored community, brining them into the heart of the hack.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
The Mipster Hack will have 3 – 4 teams. We’ll announce the Hack as soon as possible, and invite a range of professionals (from varying industries and realms of expertise) to participate in the Hackathon. Participants might include buyers, coders, designers, marketers, social media experts, advertising professionals, etc.
