The Smith Family Hackathon
Pfizer Australia in partnership with our 2017 Charity of Choice, The Smith Family, will host a two-day Hackathon event on the 11 & 12 May 2017 at the Pfizer Australia Offices, 38-42 Wharf Road, West Ryde NSW 2114.
This event aims to help The Smith Family take their long-standing partnerships with Corporate Australia to the next level!
THE CAUSE
The Smith Family is a charity that focuses on helping disadvantaged Australian children to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. Learn more about The Smith Family here.
WHAT IS A HACKATHON?
A hackathon is a collaborative event where teams work together to ideate and develop solutions to solve a business problem.
The event concludes with the teams presenting their ideas ‘The Pitch’ to a judging panel.
The Smith Family will have the option to adopt the winning idea and will receive some seed funding from Pfizer to help kick-start the project.
The event will involve participants from Pfizer, The Smith Family and the broader community including start-ups and other corporations.
HACKATHON ROLES
Hacker: a skilled computer expert who uses their technical knowledge to overcome a problem.
Hipster: a user experience or interface designer who enhances end-user satisfaction by improving the usability, accessibility, and pleasure provided by interacting with the product.
Hustler: a person who works in business and has a commercial or marketing background.
Generalist: a person with a wide array of useful knowledge and experience.
We are specifically looking for Hackers & Hipsters to join us for this event. All other roles will be offered to Pfizer Australia & The Smith Family colleagues.

If your registration is successful, we will notify you by email by 8 May 2017. Prior to the event you will be provided with a briefing pack containing further information regarding the Hackathon.
