The Startup Collaborative // JumpStart Challenge

Organized by The Startup Collaborative

Want to create a startup that solves a major industry's pain point? Curious about innovating our most stalwart corporations? Love a good hackathon? Great!

Join your entrepreneurial, creative and hacker-friendly peers for the second Omaha JumpStart Challenge. During this event, a major corporation will stand up and reveal the challenges they struggle with day in and day out. You know, the pain points that require creative, technology-based solutions that for whatever reasons haven't been solved within their organizational walls or - better yet - their industry.

This is a two-part event series!

  • Part 1: Corporate Challenge Issued (that's this event!)

  • Part 2: Solution Pitch Showcase (that is on February 16. Register here.)

What to expect in Part 1 when the Challenge is issued:

A corporation will stand up and detail out the Challenge they're issuing to the startup community for solving. This issue will include details on the industry, nuances to their business model, specific goals for the solution and additional support they can offer to teams pursuing the Challenge.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Not at all! Solutions come in many forms. Age isn't an indication of startup creativity and execution.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking at The Startup Collaborative is available in the city-owned garage on 19th and Harney. There are also meters scattered around the building. Pro tips: download the Park Omaha app to pay for your meter by card. Cheapest meters are between 19th-20th and Howard!

Do I have to have a team to work with before the Challenge is issued?

Completely up to you. Many folks come solo and form teams while there. It helps to have a well-rounded founding team. Try to align with your hustler or hacker counterpart.

What happens after the Challenge is issued?

You get to work! Immediately following the Challenge, you'll be able to align with teams and star to concept your solution.

During the two weeks between the Challenge and the Solution Pitch Showcase, you'll have free membership to The Startup Collaborative. Use the space to meet with your team.

Make sure to attend open pitch practice on Fridays at 3 pm with Nathan Preheim and Erica Wassinger (cofounders, The Startup Collaborative) to refine your solution and improve your odds of winning.

Is there a prize for the winners?

You bet there is. In addition to the cash prize, you'll have a free membership to The Startup Collaborative and inclusion in the Discovery Phase of the accelerator. And, you'll have a direct line to your first enterprise customer who will work with you through the Discovery Phase of this concept.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
