FAQs:
What is HackHarassment?:
From the official Hack Harassment site:
"Hack Harassment is a coalition of organizations and individuals who share in the common goal of building a more inclusive and supportive online community. Hack Harassment does not guarantee the world will be free from online harassment, but together, we hope to bring us all closer to that goal.
Hack Harassment is founded by Intel, Vox Media and Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation. If you are interested in joining the movement, join us to #HackHarassment."
What is This Event?:
TNGL is working with #HackHarassment to host a weekend long hackathon event unlike no other
With this event, we want to see what amazing ideas and creations people from a plethora of backgrounds can make together to solve the visible epidemic of online harassment.
Some things to look out for for this weekend:
- Learn how to develop on Intel platforms like the Edison and Realsense to create cool apps involving IOT, Computer Vision and more!
- Join our breakout session about online harassment and how to end it
- Work with Comic Book Superhero and International Hip-Hop Artist Da Great Deity Dah on creating music, art, and video to put a stop to online harassment. Also collaborate on our official PSA and Anthem "Stop The Bullying" made at Carnegie Mellon!
- Learn to play and develop with VR Games with Oculus and HTC Vive Systems Set Up
and more!
Who Can Participate?
Unlike many hackathons this event puts a strong focus on being interdisciplinary, diverse and inclusive. That's why it's open to all universities, backgrounds, and areas of study.
We want to hear from everyone and as such NO PRIOR SKILLS ARE REQUIRED. Whether you are an experienced coder or novice, or have skills in other fields like in the arts, or medical, we welcome you. With a diversity of categories, and with such a large issue we are trying to solve, we want everyone to be able to contribute their ideas and inventions in this open event!
There also is an option to be an observer to show support!
What are the Categories?
The categories are as follows:
- Social Media
- Gaming
- App Development/IOT/Wearables
