Trans*Code International Transgender Day of Visibility Social and Hackathon Setup | A WeAreTechWomen event
WeAreTechWomen in partnership with its allies Trans*Code, Capgemini UK, Gay Women’s Network (GWN) and Makers Academy, will be holding an all-day hackathon to mark International Transgender Day of Visibility.
Friday 31 March is International Transgender Day of Visibility, which aims to celebrate transgender people and to raise awareness of the discrimination faced by the transgender community worldwide.
Night before social for setup
The evening before the hackathon, coding bootcamp Makers Academy will be hosting a social for attendees who have registered for the hackday. The social will enable participants to meet and discuss ideas, in addition to working with our teams to support attendees in downloading necessary software and updates, to ensure time is fully utilised on the hackday itself. Please bring along your laptops and/or other devices you plan to use the following day.
While allies will be heartily welcomed to the social and the hackday, both events will be trans-positive and safe spaces.
Code of Conduct
Because trans and non-binary people already experience unique forms of discrimination, it is important to us that our event be not only safe and harassment free, but a positive and affirming space for everyone involved.
We honour all gender identities, races, sexualities, body types, economic backgrounds, abilities, religious beliefs and overall ways of being human, as we believe that diversity of experiences is key to successful collaborations.
WeAreTechWomen and all event partners involved in the organisation of this hackathon abide by Trans*Code’s code of conduct, which can be found in full here. Participants will be expected to follow the same code of conduct.
