Create IoT Solutions to Resource Sector Challenges
Unearthed is a 54-hour open innovation event focused on the mining and resources sectors. Innovators such as software developers, engineers, data scientists, designers, and industry insiders will come together to develop prototype solutions to resources challenges. Unearthed participants will have a chance to work on proprietary industry data as well as data from our government partners.
We are seeking the finest technology innovators and entrepreneurs to test themselves against real challenges from the resources sector. Big cash prizes are up for grabs, bragging rights against your peers and potential to gain an opportunity in the resources sector.
Unearthed Melbourne will focus on the theme of "The Internet of Things" (IOT) with a range of related challenges being put forward from global resources companies. Visit unearthed.solutions for full details about the event, videos of past events, details about the challenges and our list of supporters.
Unearthed Melbourne will also feature challenges from Anglo American, Iluka Resources and CSIRO as well as collaboration from Cisco and Amazon Web Services. This is your chance to work amongst these global organisations and solve key challenges using your creative skills and working amongst teams.
Join us on 29 October at the Unearthed Melbourne Info Session, to learn what to expect from Unearthed Melbourne, meet the Unearthed team and meet fellow participants! Register your attendance for the Info Session here.
Recap what took place in August this year at Unearthed Sydney:
Quick Schedule breakdown is
-
Friday - 5 pm kickoff event & coding begins!
-
Saturday - Coding
-
Sunday - 5pm Pitches start, 7pm Awards
- Come ready as a team? Can I participate as an individual? I don’t have a team, but still wish to come along, can I do so?
We recommend that you work as a team at Unearthed Sydney. We have found the most successful team size is between 3 to 4 but teams can be more or less. If you don’t have a team then we’ll help you to form one at a prelaunch event and on the opening evening.
- What is the cost? And what does it involve?
Developer tickets are for the full weekend. This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, multiple coffees and drinks all weekend! It also includes industry mentoring from participating resources companies and tech startup experts.
- When will the challenges be released? Can we start working earlier?
Challenges descriptions will be released the week before the event. All code, design and assets must be created during the Hackathon or be freely available to the public (open source). Attend the Info Session prior to the hackathon to gain the advantage.
- Who owns what we make at the event?
You do. All teams retain full ownership of what is created during the event. (*barring any prior agreements you might have with employers, universities, etc…)
