Unlock the Box, presented by The New Georgia Project

This October 9th-10th, The New Georgia Project will host a hackathon dedicated to dismantling the barriers to civic participation faced by citizens. We’ll bring together programmers, designers, civic engagement groups, public officials, and voters to identify the most common obstacles Georgians face when attempting to vote.

We’ll emerge from the hackathon with a number of applications that can  be used to bring large numbers of registrants to the democratic process in the shortest time--and in the most efficient manner--possible.

Beyond that, we’ll highlight the importance of open data to innovation in government, and underscore the benefits of public/private partnerships in solving society's big problems.

We’re working on a plan that will bring democracy to ALL Georgians.

Now all we need is you.

All coding levels are welcome (and you don't need to be a techie to come--anyone interested in brainstorming creative ways to expand voting access is invited!). We'll assign groups on Friday evening (...don't feel like you need to come with a team!).
