U.S. Bank Small Business Hackathon

These are a few of the mantras of small business owners around the world. These fearless women and men work persistently each day to reach their goals. We believe their courage to pursue their edge and push through long days and nights should be rewarded. Innovative technology belongs to everyone, and it’s time to level the playing field.


THE CHALLENGE

Developer teams will be asked to leverage U.S. Bank and MasterCard APIs to create innovative solutions that improve productivity, financial stability and customer experience for all small businesses.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Winners of the U.S. Bank Small Business Hackathon will be selected by a panel of judges that includes industry leaders and partnering companies where available.
Each submission will be scored in each round based on the following criteria with a minimum score of 0 and maximum score of 20 points, with the final score being the average of the judges’ scores:

  • Simplicity (5 points): Is the application simple to use and can the team explain it clearly in three sentences or less?
  • Creativity (5 points): How creative was the team in developing an innovative solution for the challenge?
  • Impact (5 points): Did the team create an application that can have a real and valuable impact?
  • Design (5 points): Was the UX/UI intuitive and appealing?


RULES

  • Teams of up to 5 individuals are allowed.
  • Each hackathon has its individual hackathon.io page, and projects should be submitted on it.
  • Winning teams will be subject to a code-review at some point following the event or immediately before winning.
  • Fresh Code Enforced: We all start coding at the same time. This is done to keep things fair. Please don’t come in and build on top of previous projects if you want to win.
  • Every participant must agree to a participation agreement.
