Women In Politics Hackathon

2017 WAS RECORD BREAKING.

With a female prime minister, 32% female MPs and 26% female peers, parliament looks is more gender balanced than ever.

But it’s not enough.

We demand better. A lot better.

Shout Out UK invite 80 - 100 young women and girls to a hackathon in Parliament, in which we will aim to tackle the issue of representation in politics and what we can do to change it.

In honour of 100 years since SOME women got the vote, we will look at representation not only of women but of BAME people, disabled people and LGBTQ people, and how these characteristics intersect.

We will be joined by some of the most inspirational women UK politics has to offer - including Jen Davis, 27, who works for Labour MP Eleanor Smith, and Azzees Minott, 25-year-old Green Party member who stood in the last general election and is standing in this year's council election – who will give us an insight into the world of politics for young, BAME women and answer any questions you may have.

The main focus of the event will be on YOUR ideas. You will work in groups to think of creative ideas for how the representation of women in politics can be improved. From apps to campaigns to curriculum change, the power is in your hands.

The  group  who  devises  the  best  –  most  creative  and  viable  –  idea  will  receive a prize and the opportunity to work with Shout Out UK beyond the event to implement their idea.

Join us on 5th July 2018.

It's time to hear from the younger generations on how we can better involve all groups of society in making the decisions for our country.
