Retsly Powers Hackathon to Create New Products and Services for the Real Estate Industry

Calling all coders, designers and business professionals – 

We’re opening Zillow Group office in San Francisco for the weekend to explore what's possible when developers are connected directly to data from participating MLSs and public data from 3000+ counties.  The goal is to create products and services that benefit agents, brokers, and MLSs, as well as home shoppers/owners, and renters. Your imagination is the limit!

Participants are competing for $25,000 in cash spread across three different categories. We're also providing awesome swag, food, snacks, and all the energy drinks necessary to keep your fingers coding. 

• Best use of Retsly Listing API: 1st Place $5,500 cash. - 2nd Place $3,000 cash.
• Best use of Public Data API: 1st Place $5,500 cash. - 2nd Place $3,000 cash. 
• Crowd Favorite: 1st Place $5,000 cash. - 2nd Place 3,000 cash.

We Supply: Local listing data from participating MLSs and public data via APIs available here; Quick presentations and code samples that help to bootstrap your hacking, WiFi, power strips, food to keep you going and caffeine to keep you awake; Along with technical experts and housing experts to assist you in building faster, smarter and with new tools.

You Bring: Your laptop, any other technical equipment you need, skills & ideas. Come with a collaborative, team-focused mindset and/or team up in advance on Twitter/Facebook/Google+ via the #zipcode2015 hashtag. Developers are asked to innovate around all things home - think for-sale real estate, rentals, college housing, roommates, connected home/IoT, 3D, aerial/drones, and more. Your imagination is the limit!

Event Schedule: 

Judging Criteria:  

• 25% Weight - Innovation: How original is this solution compared to other products and platforms already available? 
• 30% Weight - Usefulness: How effectively does the product solve addressable market needs? 
• 25% Weight - Integration: Does the product make effective use of the Retsly Listings API and/or the Public Data API? 
• 20% Weight - Functionality: Does the product have working functionality and potential for submission to be completed through to launch (this will take into account demonstrated technical capabilities)? 

Hackathon Legal:

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. The Zillow®  “zip.Code” Weekend Hackathon Contest starts 11/6/15 at 6:00 PM PT, and ends 11/8/15 at 2:00 PM PT. Open to eligible legal residents of, and those who are otherwise lawfully present in the 50 United States or District of Columbia (excluding New York and Florida), who are 18 years or older.
